Joanne Nwaogu is a compassionate family law attorney with over a decade of experience advocating for children and families in crisis. A native of Houston, Texas, with roots in Abia State, Nigeria, Joanne's deep commitment to protecting families began early in her career. Before becoming an attorney, she worked for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and later as an Advocate Coordinator with Child Advocates in Houston, where she supported abused children in Child Protective Services (CPS) custody. These roles shaped her mission: to provide children with safe, stable homes and help families navigate complex legal challenges with care and clarity.

Joanne earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston and later her Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she was recognized on the Dean’s List and served as Vice President of the African Law Student Organization. Her legal journey began at Lone Star Legal Aid, where she represented clients in a range of family law matters, including custody disputes, terminations of parental rights, and domestic abuse cases. She now leads as Director and Managing Attorney at The Edward Law Group, where she focuses on divorce, child custody, and CPS-related cases across Houston, Fort Bend, and surrounding areas.
